Description

The New England Primer was the basic teaching tool in the early days of America. The purpose of learning to read was to be able to read the Bible so biblical themes and references are throughout the book. It was a public domain work and many different editions were published. This edition was published by the Massachusetts Sabbath School Society. It includes the alphabet, verses, scripture, and prayers. Also included is the shorter catechism which was used to teach the basics of the faith.
