At long last a needed improvement is secured for our place. A dam is to be thrown across the Marais des Cygnes, and the great volume of water which during most of the year flows down its narrow, rocky bed, will be made useful by turning grind-stones, cording machines, spinning-jennies, and looms. In short, not to put too fine a point upon it, we are to have a flouring mill and woolen factory, and the Wilkerson Brothers are the gentlemen who will carry out the undertaking. Their buildings will stand back of the stone building to which we alluded last week. The stone building referred to they will use for storage and an office. The dam will necessitate a slight cut in the bank below the northern abutment making an outlet for the ford in front of the lime kiln.
