One of the best known and popular amusement resorts of this city is that of the Star Theater, at 107 South Main street. This theater has been established for some time and operated under this management for the past two months only. The theater has been lately remodeled, nicely decorated and finished in an artistic manner with the latest improved picture machine, cultured musicians and courteous attendants. The theater has a seating capacity for 240 people with every equipment for the convenience and comfort of the patrons in use. The proprietors of this theater are: E. S. Bennett and H. W. Alterman. Mr. E. S. Bennett was born in Maroa, Illinois, in 1875, locating in Ottawa in 1895. He has been engaged in the transfer business here for the past eleven years, at present operating two wagons. He is a member of the Degree of Honor, Knights and Ladies of Security and A. O. U. W. Mr. Alterman was born in Pittsburg, Kansas, in 1882, and there educated. He was previously on the road for four years. He is a member of the K. of P., and Banker’s Accident.
