The Occidental Hotel has for many years been the stopping place of many weary travelers. It is an imposing building and one of the famous landmarks of Ottawa’s earlier days. The genial proprietor, Mr. James Detwiler, has for 11 years served as host of the house. He leaves “no stone unturned” to make the guests comfortable, and from the cuisine to the parlor everything is elegant and convenient. He is materially assisted by Mrs. Detwiler, his amiable daughters and his son Fred. Mr. Detwiler is an old resident of Ottawa.
