W. M. Gatch, the photographer, located here in 1874. He was a soldier and photographer in the army during the early sixties. Having kept abreast of the times in all novelties in the art, it is needless to add that he has few equals and no superiors in the art. He is ably assisted by his wife, who is a thorough artist, not only with the camera, but with pen and brush. Cute, expressive poses of children by her have been adopted by leading picture publishing houses of the east. The Gatch photograph parlors are marvels of beauty and completeness in everything pertaining to photography. Mr. Gatch succeeded in catching the most perfect streak of lightning, in 1896, that was ever photographed, and upon its perfect development, a sample of which we were shown the other day, he received most flattering comment and orders for samples from the government meteorlogical department.
