Although only established two years the
wholesale and retail coal and feed business located at 424 Main St., has
rapidly sprung into popularity and has gained public approval and patronage. A
large line of coal, wood, hay, straw, eggs, stock food, condition powders and
poultry supplies are carried, high grade goods are important features with
courteous treatment and low prices prevailing at all times. Deliveries are made
to all parts of the city. The store occupies 7,500 square feet of floor space
which is ample for the storage of this large stock carried, which is complete
in every detail. Owing to the volume of business conducted, goods are bought in
large quantities and the patron receives prices which compare favorably with
those in the larger cities. Mr. J. O. Flaherty was born in Jackson County, Mo.,
in 1859. He received his education in Kansas and was previously engaged in
farming. He is a valued member of the A. O. U. W., and K. of P., and is highly
esteemed in this city.
