John Chenoweth is the oldest undertaker in Franklin county. He left New York City 30 years ago with his goods billed for Ottawa, and has made this his home for life. He made the first coffin ever kept in stock in the county. For many years he sold furniture, musical instruments, sewing machines and undertaking goods, but for some time past has handled undertaking goods and picture frames. He is an embalmer and funeral director and is assisted by his son Will, a young man of bright prospects and a genial, companionable gentleman, who is also a funeral director well versed in the details of conducting so solemn an affair as a funeral. Mr. Chenoweth is a truly representative citizen and broad gauged, liberal and prosperous man.
